The President of the United States has passed an Executive Order giving federal government employees a portion of or the entire day off. What does this mean for me?

Unless this is a listed observed holiday in the Employee Handbook, these Executive Orders apply only to federal government employees, not DoD contractors.

If an employee’s building has restricted access or is closed, employees may:

• Use accrued vacation or accrued floater Holiday to take this day off
• Flex their hours within the workweek (non-exempt) or pay period (exempt) to take this day off
• Telecommute (if an agreement is on file and approved by the supervisor and government customer (if applicable))
